Covenant World Missions

Pete and Cindy Ekstrand

Pete and Cindy Ekstrand were commissioned to missionary service by the 1981 Covenant

Annual Meeting. Following a year of French studies in Belgium, they arrived in Zaire in

July 1982. Upon evacuation from Congo in February of 1997, the Ekstrands spent

several years in the States before returning to Africa in August 1999 to a new location, Yaoundé, Cameroon.

The Ekstrands’ work as Regional Coordinators covers eight countries across the African

continent. About his work, Pete writes: “I try to keep current on happenings in each

country in Africa where the Covenant has either missionaries or ministry partnerships,

which include: Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial

Guinea, Kenya, South Sudan & Ethiopia and South Africa (a Chinese Covenant Church).

I try to travel to each of these places on a regular basis. I also encourage communications

with the Covenant at large about what God is doing in and through us and coordinate

many different aspects of our work.”
